There’s A Big Difference, Really!

People are constantly confusing our website with Voters Injured At Work.org (VIAW). Now you have to ask yourself, why would they give their organization the name of a website that does not even belong to them?  To confuse you? Probably. I’ll tell you right off, the difference between the two of us is as different as night is to day! First off Voters Injured At Work.org is not even their own website, so right off that makes for total confusion, inferring that there is an injured workers website there when there is not, but it certainly drives lots of traffic to our website which is not a bad thing.

They are a political organization that was funded and bankrolled in 2005 by the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association (CAAA), a trade organization of claimant attorneys based in Sacramento, CA and anybody who knows about CAAA knows that they don’t give a cent away to anyone without controlling it and the message that goes along with it. The executive director of VIAW at the time was a longtime consultant to CAAA who it would appear used her position as a stepping stone until she suddenly jumped ship for a position at Workers’ Comp. insurance defense law firm in Novato, CA.

So let’s see, you now have an organization that is steered by a committee of applicants’ attorneys; (according to the CAAA website) David Dugan of San Diego , Reuben Lucero of Fresno, Scott Rubel of San Bernardino & Marguerite Sweeney of Redding, CA. Now you have to really ask yourself why a purported injured workers advocacy organization supposedly run by injured workers needs a liason committee of applicants’ attorneys?

And you also have to ask yourself what happened to the vice-president and secretary from their board of directors, or were they just there for window dressing.

A funny coincidence that the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association and Voters Injured At Work.org share the same Public Relations firm from Sacramento, Hopcraft Communications. I wonder who’s paying the bill for that?

Voters Injured At Work.org wants you to believe that they actually have influence with the governor and that he actually listens to them. If you believe that, then you’ll also believe that the phrase “There’s Power In Numbers” and “Pay It Forward” were coined specifically just for their organization, which is just more misinformation. Those phrases have been around for years and they didn’t originate them.

The real problems with Workers’ Compensation in California can be traced back to insurer fraud and the rampant fraud and corruption that makes this system grind to a halt, but you’ll never hear VIAW talk about that anywhere or even mention the word “fraud” although it affects their members on a daily basis. If you’re an injured worker you know precisely of what I speak. Most of all, they want your money! They are a political organization and political organizations try to buy influence with your money.

We don’t pussyfoot around with those legislators who have their hands out, although at some point they will have to pass some meaningful legislation to stop the fraud & corruption. We have to expose the fraud & corruption and put it in front of everyone’s faces before they will admit that it exists and do something about it! How do injured workers have a chance when the insurance companies have access to a multi-million dollar warchest for their lobbying efforts?
